Happy New Year, everyone!
We have selected our first favourite eight just-released records of 2024:

v.a. - Radiant Records Palestine Comp
(Radiant Records, 2024)
Groups and individuals from the international electronic and broader music community have been releasing music to raise funds for charities to support innocent civilians impacted by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. In this case, top-tier tracks by top-tier producers…enjoy!
MoMa Ready - BODY 23
(HAUS of ALTR, 2024)
The producer describes this new record as a “collection of various techno stylings.” The project follows MoMA’s 2022 release, “Body 22”, as he continues an annual tradition. Body 23 is available on Bandcamp now at no fixed price, with MoMA explaining: “Pay what you want as a thank you for your continued support”.
Skee Mask - C
(s/r, 2024)
A pleasant surprise from Skee Mask to start the year, as the German producer releases an intoxicating, genre-defying collection of unreleased tracks made between 2016 and 2020. Yet more magic from the legendary producer. An artist who always makes you feel as if you are suspended in the deepest space, surrounded by vibrant particles.
Pile - Hot Air Balloon EP
(Exploding in Sound Records, 2024)
Although this album was made during the same sessions as All Fiction, this EP is a little more experimental. The sound field is also more diversified in structure and instrumentation, resulting in much deeper and more complex. Electronic elements come into play, along with hypnotic harmonies and abstract tendencies. This is simply a collection of leftover B-sides, but noting that this release shows a different side of the band is a more accurate statement. The variety from this handful of songs is beautiful and a testament to how productive those studio sessions were.
Patricia Taxxon - Bicycle
(s/r, 2024)
Patricia Taxxon has been creating dreamy electronic music for a while. But with this new "Bicycle", she has created a pure "crunchy" sensory experience. The feel of the music has a chill, comfy and creepy comfort, but it does something to your senses... it touches them. As someone on YouTube said: "It's an array of eclectic noise; it's a sensory moodboard of emotion. It's hypnotically autistic. It does what ASMR wishes it could". It is an excellent record to start the year.
wun two - Snow Vol. 8
(s/r, 2024)
Lofi veteran Wun Two is realising a new "Snow" chapter. Immerse yourself in the warm, wintery sounds of chill-hop and lo-fi beats that transport you to mountains and cold landscapes. With its intricate instrumentals and a Central Park skating evening jazzy tone, this is one of the most precious albums of the season - real winter beats cult!
HVL - Dialogue
(s/r, 2024)
HVL is a music producer from Tbilisi, Georgia. Its new record, "Dialogue", is a collection of organic tracks, from ambient pads to acid techno beats, outdoor field recordings, and analog machines. Often acclaimed as one of the "World's most exciting and inventive electronic musicians", this is a colossal slab of deep and dark rhythmic delight, luminous, playful, something to sink into. Embrace the nature.
OMA - Bread'n'Butter
(s/r, 2024)
Every pothead in the World was waiting to get high with this record! The instrumental Hip-hop band from Manchester OMA is dropping an album... and the album is on fire. Since the beginning, they have taken an unorthodox and playful approach to rap music, touching on themes from NAS, MF Doom and other gurus, bringing a unique sound into the five elements. "Bread'n'Butter" is to listen to everywhere and every time, especially on the 20th of April every year.
Happy new year
